Grab your homemade, from-scratch King Cake from Sugar & Slice! Pick your flavor of filling in the traditional king cake dough: Cinnamon, Cinnamon Pecan, or Strawberry Cream Cheese!

 

King cake originated in medieval Europe as part of Epiphany celebrations honoring the Three Kings, with a hidden bean or coin used to choose a “king” for the day. French settlers brought the tradition to Louisiana, where it evolved in New Orleans into a sweet, oval brioche-style cake decorated in purple, green, and gold for Mardi Gras season. The hidden object eventually became a small plastic baby symbolizing Jesus, and finding it means good luck- and usually buying the next cake.
